Youth Program Code of Conduct

1. Safety and Physical Contact

  • Zero Tolerance for Aggression: Physical violence, intentional pushing, shoving, or striking another person outside the normal, legal contact of basketball is strictly prohibited.

  • Safe Play Only: Players must attempt to control their bodies at all times to prevent injuries to themselves and others.

  • Equipment Safety: Hanging on rims, throwing basketballs at others, or misusing facility property is banned.

2. Behavior and Respect

  • Respect Authority: Players must listen to, follow instructions from, and speak respectfully to all coaches, trainers, and camp counselors.

  • No Outbursts: Screaming, using profanity, throwing tantrums, or engaging in arguments with staff or peers will not be tolerated.

  • Full Participation: Players are expected to participate in all drills and sessions. If a player is frustrated, they must request a break rather than disrupting the group.

  • Positive Attitude: Distracting others, mocking drills, or encouraging bad behavior from peers is prohibited.

3. Bullying and Harassment

  • Definition: Bullying includes any repeated or severe verbal, physical, or psychological intimidation.

  • Zero Tolerance: Heads Up Hoops maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, teasing, name-calling, or exclusion.

  • Cyberbullying: Negative interactions between participants on social media regarding program activities will be treated with the same severity as in-person actions.

4. Timeliness and Attendance

  • Punctuality: Players should arrive before the scheduled start time to lace up and prepare.

  • Pick-Up Policy: Parents must pick up their children promptly at the conclusion of the clinic or camp session.

  • Notification: Please notify staff in advance if a player will be absent or needs to leave early.

5. Legal Disclaimers and Disciplinary Action (The "Legal Stuff")

  • Right to Dismiss: Heads Up Hoops reserves the right to immediately suspend or permanently expel any participant whose behavior threatens the safety, well-being, or positive environment of the program.

  • Disciplinary Steps:

    1. First Offense: Verbal warning and immediate removal from the current activity.

    2. Second Offense: Parent contact and removal from the remainder of the day's session.

    3. Third Offense: Expulsion from the program.

  • Immediate Expulsion: Severe infractions—including violent and/or intentional  physical contact, dangerous behavior, or extreme insubordination toward staff—bypass the standard steps and result in immediate removal without a refund.

  • Liability Waiver: Enrollment in Heads Up Hoops constitutes an agreement that the program is not liable for injuries sustained during normal play or for disciplinary actions taken due to policy violations.
